Tandem Health welcomes Girma Lema, MD, one of the new Family Medicine Residents, to the team.

Girma Lema, MD, is a Family Physician at Tandem Health with a focus on family medicine and preventive care. He is an international medical graduate of Jimma University School of Medicine in Ethiopia and has been in practice for about a year. He is one of the family medicine residents with the Family Medicine Residency program, a collaborative partnership between Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, the USC School of Medicine and Tandem Health.

Dr. Lema is committed to building strong, lasting relationships with his patients and helping them stay healthy through preventive, whole-person care. He values connecting with the diverse communities he serves, drawing on his own multilingual background to communicate with and care for a wide range of patients.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Lema enjoys playing soccer and collecting family stories and recipes from different cultures. He hopes to be remembered as a doctor who truly cared and helped improve lives in the community.
