About Dr. Marvellia:
- Juliana Mavellia, DO, is a dedicated pediatrician at Tandem Health with a passion for primary care and preventative medicine, particularly in addressing the growing challenge of childhood obesity. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Prisma Health Richland Children’s Hospital. After three years in residency, she began serving as an attending physician, bringing compassionate, evidence-based care to her young patients and their families.
- Dr. Mavellia’s calling to medicine began at the age of 10, inspired by her mother, a dialysis nurse, and the moments spent accompanying her to the hospital. This early exposure fostered a lifelong commitment to helping others, advocating for patients, and creating a supportive environment for families. Known for her approachable and kind demeanor—often paired with a touch of humor—she strives to make every patient feel valued and understood. Her goal is to build lasting trust with the families she serves, ensuring that each child receives the best possible start in life.
- Outside of her work, Dr. Mavellia enjoys spending quality time with her husband, who serves in the military at Shaw Air Force Base, their dog, and loved ones in North Carolina. She loves visiting local favorites like Swan Lake Gardens and Side Bar, exploring new recipes in the kitchen, and diving into fantasy and adventure novels. A former dirt bike and four-wheeler rider, she brings that same adventurous spirit to her personal and professional life. Above all, Dr. Mavellia hopes her legacy will be that of a trusted, compassionate physician who made a lasting difference in the lives of her patients.
